Gabriel had done exactly as the fallen Kenpachi Tasuya had planned. with the attack, Gabriel went quickly to a defensive manner in order to block the assault. Unlike Tatsuya, He did not have any intention of truly taking this into a realm of offense, as he felt he only needed to buy time for the others to get here, making it an easier task to bring in the taichou gone renegade. But, Like Tatsuya, Gabriel did not plan on just letting thing go as they were. he too was planning the use of Kidou. Though, Gabriel's reaction was slightly slower, not having known that one was to be used against him.
In the second clash of the blades, Gabriel was but a word from declaring the the 9th Bakudou art of Geki. He had hoped with enough power put into it, he would have ended the battle almost instantly with the paralyzing light. But it was not meant to be as he was struck and sent flying with the first Hadou, Sho. It was a powerful spell indeed with the reiatsu poured into it, worth of being seen as Captain class without a moment's hesitation. Gabriel was not out of it though. The art stung at his stomach as it sent him back, but he did not budge a movement outside his dragging heels, which dug up dirt into a small pile behind in.
In fact, he began working on his own defense. Pushed Back, Gabriel took little Notice of the hand movement, though it was not needed. His blade before him, He began to say the name of a Kidou spell himself as He heard the word Hadou, "Bakudou no Sanjuukyuu, Enkosen!" Just barely in the nick of time, Gabriel activated the arc shield bakudou art, which he used to block most of the violent wave of energy that shot right at him. This was a sin to Gabriel that if he wanted to Live, he needed to fight back a bit harder.
With a plume of smoke caused by the clashing kidou spells, gabriel did not waste a moment's time gazing down at the burnt part of his uniform kimono, or at the fact his personalized haori was no damaged. Instead he went on the offense, Bursting forward with a push, into the cloud of smoke saying, Hadou no Sanjuuichi, Shakkaho!" Speaking the name of the thirty-first hadou art as he exited the plume, His free hand aiming the shot to strike right at his chest, his blade, Lined to thrust straight into his stomach. The hadou was to be little more then a distraction, and probably would have little effect, but Gabriel already had other ideas in mind so that he could fight and defend without opening much room to hit him.
(No worries. I will begin taking this a bit more serious as time goes. You know I like to keep it to character. My defensive skills rival Yuki, Maybe even surpass her.)
